Our Purpose
Gifts that Give Back!
Benevolent Baskets is the social enterprise, workforce development program of Marian House. Benevolent Baskets provides work experience and business skills to Marian House women as they design, produce and sell themed gift baskets and handicrafts. The program provides an important stepping stone as the ladies strive to enter/reenter the work world.
Every purchase you make supports their journey and the larger Marian House mission!
We're proud to use recycled shipping materials. We also partner with locally based, civic-minded small businesses and other nonprofits. This helps us multiply our impact!
Baskets are sold online through our web store and at local craft fairs, events and farmers' markets.
History
In July of 2021, Marian House assumed operations of Benevolent Baskets program, which was previously operated as a separate nonprofit organization. The existing product inventory moved to the Marian House headquarters and the program was reimagined to fit into the larger Transitional Supportive Housing Program model. Marian House I women serve as Basket Builders after they exit the Job Readiness Program. Benevolent Baskets serves as a space to practice some of the soft skills from Job Readiness while continuing to learn other marketable proficiencies to add to their resume.
